TEAM JUNE ROUND-UP: RACES, PBs, AND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

June was another big month for Team Training UK — packed with races, epic performances, personal bests, and even a night at the theatre. From Hyrox showdowns and outdoor hybrids to stage lights and fell running, here’s everything that went down at Team in June.

HYROX CARDIFF KICKS IT OFF

The month started strong with a solid Team presence at Hyrox Cardiff. Shout out to John Winstanley, Neil & Sally Cross, Kate Winstanley, Ellie Quantrill, and Gaynor for taking on the challenge. For some, it was a first-time partnership; for others, it was a PB kind of day. Whatever the goal, everyone brought their A-game and soaked up the atmosphere in a brilliant venue.

HELEN SHAW DOMINATES THE DEKA MILE

Next up, Helen Shaw took on the Deka Mile — and smashed it. Clocking 24:08, Helen earned herself Fastest Female of the Day with a solo performance that turned heads. A fantastic result and a well-deserved accolade!

WILD HYBRID AT TATTON PARK

Angela and Alan, along with Craig and his mate, headed to Tatton Park for Wild Hybrid — an outdoor event with jerry can carries, running, and good old-fashioned grit. The sunshine, sweat, and smiles summed up everything Team is about: effort, encouragement, and enjoying the ride.

MIKE & KAROLINA TAKE 1ST AT HYROX RIGA

Huge congrats to Mike and Karolina, who took 1st in their age group and 5th overall at Hyrox Riga! These two are regulars at our evening Hyrox sessions, and their hard work paid off with a World Championship qualification for 2025 in Stockholm. Big things ahead!

THE HYBRID GAMES & DEADLY DOZEN DOUBLE HEADER

One weekend. Two events. Zero excuses.

The Hybrid Games made their debut, and Team showed up. Competitors included:

  • Lee Hubert
  • Liv Thompson
  • Craig Vivian & Ellie Quantrill

Some incredible performances and times across the board — a great benchmark for the future.

At the same time, Katy Proudman was flying the Team flag solo at The Deadly Dozen in Macclesfield. The race happened to fall on her birthday, and what better way to celebrate than with a brutal, brilliant challenge!

HYROX LONDON TICKETS – LET THE GAMES BEGIN

Tickets for Hyrox London (Excel, 4–7 December) dropped in early June, and the scramble began. Despite the chaos, several Team members secured their place on the start line. Expect another strong turnout and big performances from the squad — this is one not to miss!

COLSHALL HALL 10K – PB CITY

The Winstanleys were back at it again — this time tackling the Colshall Hall 10K. Some awesome results:

  • John – 44:01
  • Kate – 53:34 (5-minute PB!)

These two continue to show how consistent training at Team prepares you for any challenge, any time.

NEW KIT ALERT – SQUAT MODE ACTIVATED

Say hello to the Safety Squat Bar — weighing in at 30kg before you’ve even loaded it! A new favourite for building strength safely and effectively. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out.

PLUS – 2 x 48kg Kettlebells for the super hench to carry around, as modelled by Paul….

KINDER TROG – TOUGH AS NAILS

Lee took on the Kinder Trog — a brutal 15.5-mile fell race in the Peak District with 3,000ft of climbing. With rocky climbs and leg-burning terrain, it’s not one for the faint-hearted. Lee finished in 2:54 as part of his prep for the upcoming Snowdon Marathon. Respect!

WORLD CHAMPION STATUS – JODIE MOULDING AT HYROX CHICAGO

The headline of the month: Jodie Moulding competed at the Hyrox World Championships in Chicago!

After qualifying in Manchester, Jodie has been relentless in her training. Her result:

  • 1:20:45
  • 64th in age group (out of 117)
  • 112th overall (out of 877 Pro Women)

No PB this time, but an absolutely remarkable achievement and a huge inspiration to everyone at Team. We’re so proud of you, Jodie!

ELLIE QUANTRILL BRINGS THE STRENGTH

Ellie Quantrill continues to shine both in competition and in the gym, now adding her own flavour to our training offering with her new evening strength classes. These sessions bring her unique energy and knowledge to the floor — come along and learn from one of the strongest and most inspiring members of Team!

CURTAINS UP – KATY PROUDMAN TAKES THE STAGE

It wasn’t all sweat and chalk in June. Katy Proudman showed off her talents outside the gym in the hilarious and heartwarming local production of Nunsense. Her performance had us all in stitches — and we topped it off with a curry and celebration. A perfect reminder that Team isn’t just about fitness — it’s about friendship, support, and showing up for each other.

Fitness Racing Weekend for Team Training UK

The Hybrid Games - Liverpool

What a weekend for Team Training UK! Our athletes were out in force, flying the flag for Team Training across two incredible events — The Hybrid Games in Liverpool and the ever-tough Deadly Dozen.

The Hybrid Games – A Debut to Remember

Taking on the very first edition of The Hybrid Games at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre were Team Training UK members Lee Hubert, Liv Thompson, Craig Vivian, and Ellie Quantrill.

This brand-new format challenged athletes with:

  • 9 x 600m runs
  • 9 demanding functional fitness stations
  • 200m sprint finish

Put together by Race Director Dale Walker — a good friend of the Team — this event brought the perfect blend of speed, strength, and strategy. The layout of the race, plus the vibrant waterfront venue overlooking Liverpool Docks, gave the event a true flagship feel. It’s hard to believe this was a debut.

Lee caught up with fellow Northwich local and Hybrid Games Marketing Manager, Hannah George, on the day. Despite the nerves of launch day, her passion for the sport and her commitment to making it a success was clear. Once everything was running smoothly, she even managed to jump into the action herself!

Hannah is also the founder of Hartford Sole Sisters, a women’s running group from Northwich that meets several times a week — a great community for any ladies looking to get active with like-minded soles .

Meanwhile, Katy Proudman was putting in a solo shift over at Deadly Dozen. Fresh off winning her first Mori Medal and celebrating her birthday, Katy tackled:

  • 12 x 400m runs
  • 12 tough “labours” along the way

Katy absolutely smashed it, finishing in 1:15:42 — an incredible effort that shows why she’s such a key part of our Team Training UK community.

This race had been on her radar for a while, and she did Team Training UK proud, showing guts, grit, and no shortage of birthday spirit.

A Huge Weekend of Racing for the Team.

Last weekend was a big one for Team Training athletes, with members competing and excelling across multiple events – from Hyrox Cardiff and Hyrox Riga to Deka Mile and Wild Hybrid at Tatton Park. It was a showcase of hard work, consistency, and the power of our community.

A standout result for Mike & Karolina who crossed the line in 1:01:03, earning:

  • 🥇 1st in their age group
  • 🏅 5th overall
  • 🎟️ QUALIFIED for the World Championships

Huge congratulations – a phenomenal result that puts them among the best in the world.

Our crew brought serious heat to Cardiff with some incredible performances and personal bests all round:

  • John – 1:19:43
  • Sally & Neil Cross – 1:21:03

Every one of these times was a PB, a true reflection of the structured classes, personalised PT, and relentless commitment from each athlete. Amazing work team – all that grit in training is turning into gold on the race floor.

Helen continues to raise the bar, smashing out a 24:08 and earning the title of fastest female on the day.

Helen’s dedication to training is second to none – and it’s paying off in every sense. Another podium moment for Team Training.

Wild Hybrid – Tatton Park

A fresh challenge for some of our athletes as they took on the Wild Hybrid event in Tatton Park:

This new hybrid format drew a lot of interest, and it’s great to see Team Training members getting stuck in. Expect to see even more members at future Wild Hybrid events!

Team Training UK Takes On Hyrox in Barcelona: A Weekend of Personal Bests and Unforgettable Memories

Outside of our Christmas Party, the recent Hyrox event in Barcelona marked the biggest Team attendance away from the gym ever! Eighteen of our dedicated members traveled to Spain for a weekend filled with hybrid fitness racing in the beautiful Catalonian city, and it was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

The event was a perfect mix of competition, camaraderie, and celebration. Here are some of the standout performances from our team:

Karolina & Mike: Mixed Doubles PB
One of the most impressive performances came from Karolina and Mike in the mixed doubles category. They smashed their personal best with a fantastic time of 1:02.33—an achievement that showed their hard work and dedication. Well done, both!

Neil & Sally Cross: A Debut to Remember
Married couple Neil and Sally Cross also competed in the mixed doubles, marking their debut in the Hyrox event. They crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 1:22.48, and their joy at completing their first Hyrox was truly inspiring.

Kate Flanagan: An Emotional Solo Performance
For Kate Flanagan, this was her first solo Hyrox performance, and she came in with a heartfelt 1:27. Kate has worked tirelessly this year, transitioning from a focus on running to hybrid fitness, and her emotional finish was a testament to the dedication she’s shown.

Super Andy Firth: Strong Performance in Men’s Open
Though Andy Firth didn’t achieve a personal best this time, he secured the quickest time from our gym in the men’s open category with a solid 1:05.07. Andy’s determination was clear, and he continues to push himself to new heights.

Wayne Hasselby: Long-Awaited PB
Wayne Hasselby finally smashed his personal best with an impressive 1:32.49. It’s been a long time coming, but Wayne’s hard work has paid off, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

Danny: Another PB on the Horizon
Danny completed the event with a solid 1:39, another personal best for the books. The sub-1:30 mark is now within reach, and we know that with his dedication, it’s just a matter of time.

Toby and His Mate: Men’s Doubles Performance
Toby and his mate were the only duo representing us in the men’s doubles category. They finished strong with a time of 1:03.04, and we’re proud of their effort!

Liv Thompson: A Well-Earned Rest
Liv Thompson didn’t achieve a personal best at this event, but that’s understandable given her recent achievements. Just the week before, Liv had crushed her own personal record in Warsaw. Perhaps a well-earned rest is in order for her!

Craig: The Smiliest PB
Craig, the smiliest member of the team, hit a fantastic personal best with a time of 1:19.04. Craig is always pushing himself in the gym, especially during lunchtime workouts, and his hard work is paying off. Well done, Craig!

Gaynor: Massive Improvement
Last but certainly not least, Gaynor achieved a massive personal best with a time of 1:37.53. It’s a significant improvement from her performance in Glasgow, and we’re excited to see what she achieves next!

A special shoutout to Joe Ames for completing the Manchester Marathon last weekend with an impressive time of 4:07:45. Well done, Joe!

When we weren’t racing, there was plenty of fun, laughter, and banter in the bars and restaurants of Barcelona. For some, the race trip even turned into a full-on holiday, making it a weekend to remember.

At Team Training UK, we love traveling to races and events together. It’s one of the things that keeps us such a tight-knit group. Whether you’re racing or just along for the ride, we’d love for you to join us on the next adventure. Who knows? The next race could be yours to conquer!

Team Training UK – Round Up of Sport for the Weekend

Another action-packed weekend for Team Training UK members, with some stellar performances across a range of events! Whether it was smashing times in Hyrox or conquering tough fell races, the team showed up and showed out. Here’s a quick roundup of all the action:

Hyrox Warsaw

What a weekend it was for our girls as they competed in Hyrox Warsaw for the first time. The event took place in the stunning stadium of Warsaw, and the team did an incredible job representing Team Training UK.

  • Emily ‘Red’ Hollands tackled Hyrox Pro, posting an impressive 1:30:30, especially considering her recent injury. It’s a testament to her resilience and dedication!
  • Liv Thompson came through with a fantastic 1:29:06, setting a new personal best.
  • Angela Gilchrist is getting ever closer to her sub-90-minute goal, finishing with a strong 1:30:53.

Magnificent times all round, and we couldn’t be prouder of how the team represented us in Poland!

Hyrox Sharjah

Meanwhile, Kris Ellis took on the Hyrox challenge in Sharjah, UAE, continuing to make waves internationally. Training with his surrogate gym, KO8 Fitness, while living and working in Dubai, Kris smashed it with a solid time of 1:26:43.

We can’t wait to have Kris back this summer and look forward to seeing him back in action with the team!

Llangollen Fell Race (Short)

Lee Hubert took on the Llangollen Fell Race (Short) this weekend, a tough and technical race with steep ascents and tricky descents. Having already completed the longer 17-mile version in the past, Lee opted for the 10-mile race this time and set a great benchmark time of 1:39:26. Given the challenging nature of the terrain, this 10-mile race will likely be Lee’s go-to choice in the future, and we’re excited to see him improve on this time in the years to come.

Tatton 10k

Several members took part in the Tatton 10k, and it was another round of impressive performances from the Team. The fitness classes and regular training at Team Training UK are clearly paying off as our members continue to improve and hit new goals. Here’s how they finished:

  • Laura ‘Blue‘ Ellison – 51:27
  • Sami Newton – 51:48
