July has been no different from any other month at Team Training UK – we’ve been out there competing, socialising and becoming greater beings, one event at a time. Whether it’s endurance races, casual socials or breaking personal records, this community keeps showing up and smashing it. Here’s what went down this month…
🥇 Helen Shaw – Draithlon Regional Finals
We kick off with Helen Shaw, who took on the incredible Draithlon Regional Finals – a brutal test of endurance featuring three 20-minute segments on the SkiErg, BikeErg, and RowErg.
Helen racked up a massive 836 calories in 60 minutes, finishing with a 3rd place podium! This isn’t a race for the faint-hearted, and Helen continues to go from strength to strength in just about every fitness event out there. A huge well done!

👣 Sunday 6th July – Walk & Roast at Hartford Hall
Of course, it’s not all high-intensity workouts at Team. We also know the importance of slowing down and enjoying good company. On Sunday 6th July, a few of us got together for a relaxed social, arranged by our very own Harrison Briggs.
We took a lovely stroll along the River Weaver, soaking up the summer sun and enjoying the chat. The route brought us back to the iconic Hartford Hall, where we sat down for an epic Sunday Roast. It was a perfect reminder that the Team spirit extends beyond the gym walls – it’s about connection, community, and sharing life outside the workouts too. Thanks again Harrison for organising!
🚴 Gaz Latham – Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride
A special shoutout goes to Gaz Latham, who is fast becoming one of our most inspiring stories. After years of inactivity, Gaz joined Team Training to get back in shape and take control of his health. And wow, what a journey he’s on!
In July, Gaz completed the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride in scorching heat, pushing through the discomfort to cross that finish line in style. It was no small feat – and proof that consistent effort really does pay off. From day one at the gym to conquering endurance rides, Gaz is living proof of what’s possible when you commit. Keep it going, Gaz – we’re all behind you!

🏔️ Lee Hubert – Snowdon Marathon
Team’s very own Lee Hubert took on the legendary Snowdon Marathon, one of the most beautiful and brutal trail marathons around. Starting in Llanberis, the route circumnavigates the base of the mountain before climbing Snowdon via Pen-Y-Pass – a serious test of physical and mental strength.
With the sun blazing and temperatures hitting 29°C, Lee approached the day with a smart game plan – a steady pace and plenty of electrolytes to combat the heat. Sadly, due to the extreme weather and resulting pressure on emergency services, the event was called off at Pen-Y-Pass. But in true Team spirit, Lee took it in stride and is already eyeing up next year. The mountain may have to wait – but Lee’s not done yet!
💪 Deadly Dozen – Vicky, Terry & Ellie (“Tellie”)
The Deadly Dozen is a fan favourite among the Team Training crew – and July saw some incredible efforts. Vicky Jack made her Deadly Dozen debut in the morning session, going it solo and completing the entire challenge in a time of 1:04:02 – a brilliant result, especially on her return to fitness racing. Strong, focused, and determined – welcome back, Vicky!
Later in the day, we saw a new partnership burst onto the scene: “Tellie” – Terry & Ellie teamed up for the doubles challenge and stormed it, finishing in 58:55 and earning their Mori medals. It’s always a buzz to see Team members stepping up together, combining their strength and drive to take on these challenges. A powerhouse performance from both – well done!

🌴 Holiday Hustle – Paul Connor
While many hit pause during holiday season, our leader Paul Connor showed us how to keep moving – even while away. Taking a well-earned break, Paul went equipped with resistance bands in his suitcase, ready to tackle whatever limited hotel gym setup he’d find. No excuses, just smart training.
With his usual “Acing the Day” mindset, Paul kept up his routine and stayed lean, fit, and energised – showing us all that holidays don’t have to mean losing progress or piling on pounds. If you’re heading away soon and need a plan to stay on track, speak to Paul – he’ll get you set up with a smart strategy to keep grinding on your getaway.

🥈 Helen Shaw – Deka Strong
Yes – Helen again! She wasn’t content with just one competition this month and went on to represent Team Training at Deka Strong. It’s no surprise that a podium finish was on the cards, and Helen smashed it – walking away with 2nd place!
If you’re looking for someone to inspire your training, Helen is the person to watch. Fiercely competitive, humble in victory, and always pushing for more – she embodies the very best of the Team ethos.

⚡ Andy Firth – Battersea Park 10K
Last but definitely not least – blink and you’ll miss him – Andy Firth took part in the Battersea Park 10K, and put in an eye-watering time of 36:46.
That’s not just a PB. That’s just how Andy rolls. A sub-40 10K is a big milestone for most runners – Andy’s out here doing it for fun, week in, week out.
He’s been working relentlessly on every aspect of his training – from speed work to recovery – and the results speak for themselves. An amazing example of consistency, discipline and pace under pressure. Hats off to you, Andy!
💥 That’s a wrap for July!
As always, thank you to every single member of Team who showed up, supported others, pushed boundaries, and represented what we’re all about. Whether it was on the start line, the finish line, or the roast dinner table – we did it together.
Stay tuned for the August update. Or better still, get involved, show up, and be part of this incredible community we call Team Training UK.
Stronger. Together. Always.
